Urban Geelong Long Term Settlement Boundary Review adopted by Council
The City of Greater Geelong has adopted a new long term settlement boundary for urban Geelong.
The Greater Geelong Settlement Strategy identified the need to confirm the city’s settlement boundary, and Echelon Planning was engaged to complete the boundary review in 2021.
Our work involved a detailed review of the settlement boundary in areas such as Armstrong Creek, Waurn Ponds, Moolap, Lara, and Avalon.
The review assessed the existing and potential alternative settlement boundary locations, considering stakeholders views and a wide range of factors including physical, landscape, environmental, and cultural heritage matters.
The review aims to strike a balance between fostering urban expansion and safeguarding the preservation of the region's unique character.
