South Melbourne Structure Plan adopted by Port Phillip City Council
Echelon Planning is excited to see the South Melbourne Structure Plan (SMSP) adopted by Council.
As both a Major Activity Centre and an Enterprise Precinct, South Melbourne is set to play a crucial role in achieving the directions for growth set out in Plan Melbourne. The new Structure Plan addresses the need to accommodate growth in residential, retail and commercial floorspace, whilst also protecting the heritage character and amenity of the place.
Our team has assisted the City of Port Phillip to prepare this plan over the past few years, including advising on preferred land use directions, and the drafting of both the plan and planning scheme provisions.
Our review informed the definition of the activity centre and enterprise precinct boundaries, as well as recommending land use zones and policies to best give effect to the structure plan and wider state policies.
We're proud to contribute to shaping the future of South Melbourne, ensuring it remains a vibrant and sustainable urban centre.
